GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF CLASS:
The purpose of the class is to assist in transit operations by providing a high level of communication support utilizing computer software to handle calls for setting reservations, scheduling trips, maintain driver manifests and work schedules. This class is responsible for answering and monitoring paratransit (American with Disabilities Act) service phone calls; collecting, entering and relaying accurate and detailed information. Speak English and Spanish fluently. This class works under general supervision.
Answer paratransit services multi-line phone, professionally with courtesy and concern, records essential information accurately and document information changes as necessary.
Create, maintain and monitor computerized daily manifests/schedules for dispatching and routing transit services focused on productivity, efficiency and practicality.
Ensures the availability of drivers and vehicles to meet required demand in preparation of daily manifests/schedules.
Provide paratransit reservation services information in accordance to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA); must communicate clearly, accurately and effectively.
Have good knowledge of Transit service area.
Maintain a library for immediate availability of reference paratransit materials such as computer manuals, maps, policy/procedures SOPs, policy memos and other reference materials.
Perform a wide variety of clerical duties including, data entry, type 60 word per minute, maintain accurate records, logs, and files, and prepare reports.
Communicate and refer scheduling issues, passengers with questions and concerns unable to address to appropriate management personnel.
Must have ability to trouble shoot software issues and communicate with detail and accuracy with support techs.
Work a flexible work schedule.
Perform related tasks as necessary.

Requires summarizing, interpreting, and formulating data or information in accordance with a prescribed process to facilitate the identification and extraction of useful information.
Serves customers, attends to their requests, gives information, guidance and assistance to people to directly facilitate tasks accomplishments.
INVOLVEMENT WITH THINGS:
Requires using phone communication, computer, Reservation and Scheduling software that requires extensive training, copier, and other similar equipment.
Requires performing semi-routine work with occasional problems.
Requires performing addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; may calculate ratios, rates and percents.
Must communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing. Ability to read sentences, instructions, regulations, procedures; ability to write complete sentences using basic grammar, ability to speak English and Spanish preferred.
Performs clerical and technical tasks requiring a wide range of procedures with intensive understanding of standard policy and practices. Requires normal attention with short periods of high concentration for accurate results. Occasional exposure to unusual pressures.
JUDGMENTS AND DECISIONS:
Requires being responsible for own actions, requiring almost constant decisions affecting passengers, coworkers and the general public. Works in a moderate environment with guidelines and policies but with frequent variations from the routine.
VOCATIONAL/EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE PREPARATION:
Requires high school diploma or GED with some college or university hours in communication or specialize advance training in related field.
SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:
Professional certifications in computers software and customer service, preferred. Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with passenger endorsement preferred but not necessary.
Requires at least three years of operational experience directly related to transportation; reservations, scheduling, data entry, and customer service.

PHYSICAL DEXTERITY REQUIREMENTS:
Requires sedentary work and routine keyboard operations the majority of the time.
The job risks exposure to no significant environmental hazards.
The job requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing, and speaking.
