GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF CLASS:
The purpose of this class is to clean & maintain BUS facilities and vehicles. Also responsible for minor repairs as needed.

ESSENTIAL TASKS:
Performs detailed cleaning of BUS fleet, including buses, vans, and administrative vehicles.

Performs general cleaning, such as mopping, sweeping, and dusting of BUS facilities.

Operates a variety of tools and equipment, such as lawnmowers, blowers, and weed eaters for cleaning and maintenance of BUS facilities.

Performs routine landscaping maintenance such as trimming trees and mowing lawns.

May perform light carpentry work, such as painting walls, repairing shelves, and similar tasks.

Performs related tasks as necessary.

DATA INVOLVEMENT:
Requires comparing or inspecting items against a standard.

PEOPLE INVOLVEMENT:
Requires working with co-workers and other transit personnel. May require occasional contact with other City of Brownsville employees and, rarely, with the general public.

INVOLVEMENT WITH THINGS:
Requires handling or using machines, tools, or equipment that requires brief instruction or experience; such as lawnmowers, blowers, weed eaters, and similar tools.

COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS
REASONING REQUIREMENTS:
Requires performing routine work using common sense.

MATHEMATICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Requires performing basic addition and subtraction, such as measuring.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS:
Requires comprehending simple signs, labels, symbols,; understanding routine lists of instruction when explained; little or no reading or writing required by the job; basic speaking skills not necessarily including complete sentences. Must be able to read and understand basic English for comprehension of instructions, safety labeling, policies, and other materials.

MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Requires simple, repetitive, manual operating tasks involving a few definite procedures; requires minor short term planning and little attention for accurate results.

VOCATIONAL/EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE PREPARATION

Requires a High School Diploma, GED or specialized vocational training.

SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:
Requires a valid TX Driver's License.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Requires at least one year of experience.

ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARDS:
The job may risk exposure to bright / dim light, dust and pollen, extreme heat and or cold, wet or humid conditions, extreme noise levels, fumes and / or noxious odors, traffic and moving machinery.

SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
The job required normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing, speaking, and color perception.
