GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF CLASS:
The purpose of this position is to monitor the gym area and to arrange and run all recreational activities. The class is responsible for ensuring safety through supervision, preparing activities and games, and maintaining the cleanliness of the facility. The class works according to set procedures under direct supervision.

ESSENTIAL TASKS:
Opens and closes the gymnasium facility.

Sets up and monitors all games, activities, and equipment for patrons of the gymnasium.

Answers the telephone and communicates with the public regarding general information.

Supervises all recreational activities and games, and keeps track of the number of participants.

Organizes the equipment room and distributes equipment.

Sweeps and mops the gymnasium floor and restrooms.

Cleans the gymnasium mirrors and windows and performs some outside maintenance.

Collects and removes trash from the facility.

Performs related tasks as necessary.

Requires following instructions and orders of supervisor.

Requires handling or using machines, tools, or equipment that requires little or no prior experience such as shovels, mops, brooms, or similar small items.

REASONING REQUIREMENTS:
Requires performing routine work using common sense.

MATHEMATICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Requires performing basic addition and subtraction, such as measuring.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS:
Requires reading basic sentences, instructions, or work orders; writing simple sentences and completing uncomplicated job forms; speaking sentences using basic grammar.

MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Requires simple, repetitive, manual or clerical tasks involving a few definite procedures; requires minor short term planning and little attention for accurate results.

Requires instruction that is sufficient for satisfactory job performance.

SPECIAL CERTIFICATION AND LICENSES:
Requires Texas Drivers License.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Requires a short demonstration up to and including one month.
