GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF CLASS:
The purpose of the class is to provide accounting/fiscal support for assigned area of responsibility. The class is responsible for entering data, updating and maintaining ledgers, logs, reports, journals, and files, and performing various fiscal functions and calculations. The class works according to set procedures under direct supervision.
Attend to general public in the issuance of birth and death records.
Takes payment, prepares receipt, prepares request record in accordance with State policy and follows in-house policy regarding job duties.
Logs, and posts funds from customers, employees, and the general public.
May prepare bank deposit and transfers according to direction of supervisor or established policy.
Scans and indexes vital records, prepares burial transit permits for Supervisor approval, and attends to other duties as assigned.
May prepare and process invoices, purchase orders, receipts and other financial statements as directed.
Organizes and files receipts and deposits of revenue and expenditure funds into the accounting system.
Performs routine office tasks such as data entry, typing correspondence, filing, faxing, telephoning and photocopying.
INVOLVEMENT WITH DATA, PEOPLE AND THINGS
Required copying, transcribing, entering or posting data of information.
Requires strong customer services experience, serving customers; attends to their requests and exchange information with them. Works well in a team environment.
INVOLVEMENT WITH THINGS:
Requires handling or using machines or equipment that requires moderate instruction and experience such as computers, peripherals, software programs such as work processing, spreadsheets, or custom applications, or switchboards; may service office machines.
Requires performing semi-routine work with occasional problems.
Requires performing addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; may calculate ratios, rates and percents.
Requires reading basic sentences, instructions, or brief memorandums or explanation; writing simple sentences and completing uncomplicated job forms; speaking sentences using basic grammar. Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) is essential to the performance of these duties.
Requires clerical or technical tasks requiring a wide range of procedures with intensive understanding of a restricted field, or complete familiarity with the functions of a unit or small division of an operating agency; requires normal attention with short periods of concentration for accurate results and occasional exposure to unusual pressure.

Requires guiding or training others, requiring decisions affecting a few coworkers; works in a stable environment with clear and uncomplicated written/ oral instructions, but with some variations from the routine.
VOCATIONAL/EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE PREPARATION
VOCATIONAL/ EDUCATIONAL PREPARATION:
Requires high school diploma or GED and formal training, special courses or self-education equivalent to satisfactory completion of one year of college education or demonstrated experience handling cash transactions, reconciliations, and reporting.
SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:
Valid Texas Drivers License.
Requires over six months and up to and including a year.

PHYSICAL DEXTERITY REQUIREMENTS:
Requires sedentary work that involves sitting most of the time; may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Dexterity is necessary for use of office machines and for removing items from shelves or cabinets. Requires multitasking throughout the day.
The job risks exposure to no significant environmental hazards.
The job requires normal visual acuity, and field of vision, hearing and speaking.
